Department of Marketing & SCM

The Department of Marketing & Supply Chain Management counts 8 Full Professors (2 full-time, 6 part-time), 2 Associate Professors, 7 Assistant Professors, and approximately 15 PhD students. The Department is especially proud of its excellent reputation in the field of services marketing, which has been a focus of SBE since its inception. Departmental research covers a wide variety of service topics, ranging from investigations into service channels, service employees, service quality, service loyalty, servicecapes, service failure and recovery, service innovation, and online services to enduring customer relationship management. Findings have been published in top academic journals in the field such as the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Service Research, Journal of Consumer Research, MIS Quarterly, Management Science, Decision Science, Journal of Services Marketing, and the Journal of Service Management, amongst others. As a result, the department was ranked 24th in research productivity in terms of publications in premier AMA journals for the 2010-2014 period.

Additionally, departmental research has received several international awards, such as SERVSIG’s Best Article in Services Marketing for 2011, and is often funded by prestigious grants from the Dutch National Science Foundation NWO, the European Union, and the Marketing Science Institute. In 2015, Elisabeth Bruggen received the SERVSIG Emerging Scholar Award. Especially noteworthy is Prof. dr. Ko de Ruyter’s receipt of the AMA SERVSIG’s Christopher Lovelock Career Contribution Award, recognizing the work of a marketing scholar who has made a significant and sustained contribution to the discipline of Services Marketing.
